Our history...

Château Lafitte has existed since 1763. Château Lafitte premier Côtes de Bordeaux is produced, vinified and bottled in the domain of the same name located in Camblanes and Meynac, by its successive owners and lastly by the SCEA Château Lafitte.

The origin of the name Lafitte dates back to the 18th century following the acquisition, on February 12, 1763, by a wine merchant well known in the local history of Camblanes, Mr. Raymond Lafitte, who gave his name to the estate. The property mentioned in the 2nd edition of the feret clearly shows the notoriety already acquired by the domain in 1868.

In 1970 Juliette Mengin bought the property. This woman of action and decision, was immediately seduced by the strategic location of the property as well as its view overlooking the valley of the Garonne. She undertook an intense planting campaign as well as colossal work in the reconstruction of a new vat room to accommodate future harvests. This businesswoman had a key role in the development of Château Lafitte.

In 1991, his son Max Mengin took over the management of the Château Lafitte seal and thanks to his international experience he was able to give wine a new commercial boost. After finishing his oenology studies, Philippe Mengin, Juliette's grandson, spent many years traveling the world in order to acquire an in-depth knowledge of the export wine trade. Philippe undertook new modern working methods, having contributed to the significant improvement of the quality of the wine as well as a considerable opening to the export of the wines of the family domain.

To date, the wine is 95% distributed for export and enjoys a reputation recognized throughout the world.
